Can't go wrong with a couple rattletraps (chrome/blue &/or all white).  Drop shot worm jigs, etc...

Short list for bass just about anywhere:

- senkos rigged weightless (green pumpkin color)
- spinnerbaits (I like white or chart/white)
- jigs (I like brown based colors or black/blue)
- drop shot/shaky head/darter head worms (I like shaky head using Reaction Innovations Flirt Worms).

It's rare that one of these methods won't catch fish, and they are all cheaper than hard baits.

Sounds like a plan!

I personally like to rig senkos weightless with an extra wide gap worm hook (Texas rigged, but without a bullet weight). That way they slide through the weeds instead of snagging or fouling up. Cast, let sink to bottom, then do a slow lift/fall receive. If that isn't working, try adding a little twitch...

Good luck!

Rocket Shad, white and chartuse. Maybe replace the double hook with a single for snag resistance.
