I am heading up there on the 22nd, and never fished Lake Tahoe.

I plan on bringing the kayak.  Not sure where to fish at or what to fish for.

Any advice and tips to fish the lake or surrounding area from land or Kayak this time of year?

I'm headed there in July, never been, so I'd be interested in some Intel.  From what I know the water is cold, clear and deep!  Should be interesting.

I like to troll the shelf between Baldwin beach and emerald bay for kokes, or jig some of the structure for Mackinaw. I typically run a small dodger with punk/green or purple hoochies on a downrigger for the kokes.  For the Mackinaw I use a 1.5 oz lazer minnow.

There are also lots of bass, crappie and sunfish in the keys.

Jude is the guy to get intel from.

Do you know if they are active in Mid May?

I may catch live minnow from the lake and jig also..  Thanks for the tip.

How far is the walk to launch at the beach?

You might search the boards for "Tahoe".  Adam's given good advice here.

Good luck.   :smt001

It's a short walk from the Baldwin beach parking lot.  I recommend wheels,  but i have gone without them.

I am also curious and will be monitoring your report.  Sadly, I have no Lake Tahoe experience and no advice to give.

There are some good Mackinaw off Rubicon Point at DL Bliss State Park.  Gotta hit them early though.  Never seen one caught after the sun was up over the mountains.  Also for what it's worth, to me the best paddle on the lake is to launch at Bliss, paddle along the cliffs over into Emerald Bay, have lunch on the beach, and paddle back.  Careful though.  It can be smooth as glass in the moring and look like an angry ocean in the afternoon.

Sorry guys..   I dont have much of a report. I arrived on Friday and it rained.  I did stop by 88/89 walker bridge. We hung out about an hour. The trout truck arrived and dumped some trout.  I grabbed my pole but seems the locals know this was going to happen, and a crowd formed.  People were fishing with their kids and having fun. I rather them enjoy their experience than to crowd them.  Saturday, rained on and off. Went for a hike at the beach and checked out the water.. Windy and and not clear at all.   We had fun though.  I wish I could have bbq and fished as planned.  Wife won some cash and got a bday package from Lakeside Inn, and got a free stay.

I did manage to hook a Revo 13 on Sunday. We made a 3 hour treck up north near Chico to pick it up..  I did not have a plan to bring it back but it was too good of a deal to pass..   I managed to strap it on the roof with my tarpon.  Cant wait to fish this saturday.. :smt001
