I need a rod for trolling from the yak. I am a big shimano fan FYI lol. But I been interested in a few seeker rods and can't decide because I have no exp with any of the three. It will be for a spinning reel which is a Shimano Thunnus ci4 4000. Will be trolling local lakes and port of sac, but will eventually start saltwater fishing so I wanted something that can handle Salmons and halibuts. Any input would help thanks.

Curado 300 series reel, Trevala rod MH or M 6'6".  You said you are a Shimano fan.  Daiwa and Abu have some great choices in reels too.

Spinning reel for trolling would not be my preference.

Oh I was looking for a rod since I already have the spinning reel. I know I would be better off with a conventional reel but I got to put the thunnus to use lol.

i usually troll the port of sac with a bass rod. i don't think you need anything to heavy for that place.

go with either a seeker 270-7 or calstar 270-7 for trolling in the ocean. those suckers have backbone and they're pretty decently priced but they are heavy.....

my brown trout from the port a couple of years ago. :smt044

Sweet fish and i dint know there were even browns in port of sac. Yeah I got a few bass rods but they are for baitcasters and I only have a 9ft rod for my spinning reel. Was going to buy a shimano compre for it, but I figure I spend a few extra buck and grab something I can take to the ocean.

I use Shimano Trevala ML rods paired with Baitrunner reels for both jigging for RCG and trolling for salmon.

I use a Calstar 270-7 for ocean salmon trolling using a DR. A 196-7 is probably a better choice though for DR. The 270-7 is a good live bait rod for SCAL fishing too.

I'm pretty sure they are great rods but I'm trying to stay under $200 and round $150
