I bought a NRS Chinook last year. Easy, comfortable, lots of pockets for stuff. Works for me.

I won an NRS Chinook at the Lowrance RF Classic and it's one of the few newer PFDs I've tried that I like. Rocked it for the RF opener.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

Holy crap! The NRS Chinook ones are expensive.. nice tho!

I went to Walmart yesterday and found a Stearns fishing one with mesh backing and pockets for $25... YEAH! It feels good and super light.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!  :smt001

Definitely try it on WITH YOUR KAYAK SEAT. Some can be VERY annoying the way they fit with the seat back.

If your PFD fits properly, someone should be able to grab it by the shoulders and lift you up without the best pulling up.

My take on Safety Gear, What is your life Worth?  I don't go cheap there, I may cut corners elsewhere, but not where my life may depend on a piece of equipment working perfectly

As long as it fits you correctly and is comfortable enough that you'll actually wear it while paddling, it doesn't matter whether its a high end or bargain model. That being said, I went the same route when I first got my kayak. I went to Big 5 and grabbed a bargain model for $30 or so because I was so excited to just get out on the water. It was comfortable enough in the store, but as soon as I got in the kayak seat, it felt really cumbersome. Fast forward a few years, while I always wear it religiously, I HATE doing so because its just so uncomfortable. Needless go say, that Chinook is looking more and more tempting.

Or the shoulder straps ripping.
