I am heading to HMB tomorrow.   I have not been there before.  Where is the best place to launch a kayak, park, look for crabs, and salmon.  Can you get salmon inside the reef line or do you have to go beyond the buoys?
Thanks

Bob, there are two primary kayak launches at HMB. One is at HMB kayak company (drop off yaks there but do not park there) or the old pier. You can see the old pier on Google maps. Haven't heard much about salmon recently, but there's always a chance for rockfish near the green cans.

Old pier is a shorter paddle.  But they have a big heavy chain that you have to navigate under or around at the old pier.

I met a fisherman who had just heard from some friends who live there saying that they had been getting salmon close in.  Maybe just a rumor.  Have you ever caught salmon inside the line of reefs and buoys?  Also do you know where it is good to drop crab pots.
Thanks,
Bob

I know, old thread...

Off the jetty there are numbers.  30+ and 100 yds off the jetty are a great place to throw a few crab pods in the early season.  Later in the season it's best to use a fishfinder and hit the ledges.
