We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

People aren’t supposed to look back. I’m certainly not going to do it anymore.”

:smt005 Yeah, no prob., seriously. That Werner is a pretty sweet kids paddle, about $90. The nice seat about the same. Plus the PFD is worth a twenty dollar bill or two. I would OBO something less than the $250, but get it if the stuff fits. It for Ethan?

That was the thought, but still hesitant at this time at age 8 to have him take off on his own.  Feel way much more comfortable when we are on the same yak.  If he tips, I can see the wife killing me!!! lol

FWIW --Amy just made good point--some times she catches me off guard and makes sense..pays to tune her in once in a while  :smt005

I showed her the ad and she said they have them at costco right now...kids ones...made me think a kid could do well in those little knock off kayak we adult fisherman tease..but for a kid...those outdoor world..costco etc...would be like a fish n dive in size lol

I just picked up one of the cheap Costco ones for $90 for my little one.  He turned five at the end of March and this was part of his birthday present.  HE LOVES IT!!!!!   He can really move out on that little thing too.  For this trip to Lake Sonoma I kept him tied off to the rear handle of my Pro Angler via a 20ft piece of rope.  It gave him enough freedom to play and have fun but I was still able to pull him back to me if I needed to.   It was his first time in his kayak and he got the paddling down in about 5min.  The next day we had him at Clear Lake State Park in the swimming area and he was allowed to play in it without the rope as long as he stayed close to the beach.  Of course a PFD was a must and I used a cheap paddle leash to make sure the kayak and paddle stayed together!  It'll work fine for him for a few years until I decide he's into it enough to get him something a little nicer.  His next one will probably be a Hobie Sport or Revo 11 but that's years down the road!

that is awesome....we moved to house on a lake when I was 5 , with a sloped back lawn down to the water ..my mom was terrified I would be playing in the back yard and roll down into the water...we had a row boat-when I was like 7 i was gone most days on the lake....70's...I dont remember anyone watching over me...they must have though at first...great pics..he looks pretty happy in that
