Of course they do.  I was just making a point of the imbalance.
2x as many in Astoria as last year, 10x as many as 5 years ago.  This means they don't have enough food  in CA to support their numbers when historically they did.   Their population is too big for their food supply. In SoCal they are starving.

I was getting harassed by a couple different sea lions on the east delta a couple weeks ago, way beyond their normal range.  They're spreading like the plague.
