I check this site often, today is the most red I have seen, i.e. river flows less then 10% of normal where they have at least 30 years of records, some rivers maybe low because they are holding more in lakes for later this year

It's going to be worse this summer than last summer. I don't think rainfall is gonna matter from here on out. If the populations water usage and needs exceeds water available it's a bad situation.

Not looking good.  Past tree ring studies have shown evidence for 50 year and longer droughts and future projections under future climate scenarios are showing high chances for long droughts. Here's a recent article from Newsweek on current water situation that also contains a link to an article on future projections.  Hard choices to be made.

But not a single word on controlling human growth.  :smt013 Qe preach conservation about everything from water to every single species of critter on the planet, but nobody says a word about human growth. Sure, people nag about immigration, but what about crankin out the kids? Do the math, three kids, they have three, three, three, etc. I wont even touch the octomoms. Eventually, this will need to be addressed. Look at china. We dont have the water and may not for decades, and we are slapping up houses and strip malls on the best farm land in the world. That land will never be in production, ever again. Gonna get ugly. There is a concept called "Zero Population Growth" that should be everyone's concern. Gotta have food, shelter, and water to survive. Take water from the equation and we're done. Rant over

All for ZPG in America, and not just because I can't have kids. All for heavily fining anyone caught hiring someone who isn't legally in the states as well. Building on agriculture land is a sin.

Well, the math says the US and China have growth rates less than 1%. As far as developing farmland, that has more to do with design ideology that is based on increasing the square footage per person (McMansions are a good example) rather than specifically pop growth. There are places where population growth is a huge problem, but. Not here at the moment. Ours is a problem of resource use.

Bugs are hatching 6 weeks early. That is a very bad sign. California will always have water issues. The entire part of the state below us is all desert. You don't get war from the desert. And where are all out big farms?  Below us in the desert.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
