My name is David and I am just beginning what I think will be a long love/obsession of kayak fishing. I grew up bait fishing for Bass and Catfish in Texas and am fairly new to saltwater fishing. I frequent the Berkeley pier and sometimes surf fish bay area beaches. I have spent the last few weeks gearing up and researching the world of kayak fishing. I am brand new to kayaking and recently took a couple classes through CCK (would highly recommend the kayak fishing safety & rescue class). I am excited to say I just purchased a Hobie Revo 13 and will be taking it to Del Valle for my first kayak fishing adventure soon! After this I want to frequent the delta and the open coast and would love any helpful information to get started! I'd love to meet up and fish with anyone who can get me going in the right direction!

Thanks, Dave

Welcome Dave!  It's Mark from the class.  Nice to see ya picked up a Revo!  I kind of figured you were headed the Hobie route...  :smt003

How'd you do at Pacifica?  I got skunked on the beach.  See ya on the water.

Red Raider, as in Texas Tech? I got my degree from TTU.

I've got a Hobie Adventure and fish out of Santa Cruz a lot. Once the season starts, hope to see you out there...

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes!

Mark, once I tried the Mirage drive system I was hooked and cannot wait to start fishing from my Hobie! I ended up not fishing at Pacifica once I saw how insanely packed the Pier was.

NowhereMan, I graduated from TTU in 2013 and will forever be a Red Raider (regardless of the football record  :smt010 )

Also, can someone tell me how to reply to a person in a thread like this? I am also new to using a Forum. Do I write a general reply such as this one or do I use the 'Quote' function?

Thanks, Dave

You can pretty much do what you like.  Play around with the forum... you can use Quote or you can just reply.
