I've been doing some spearfishing in the Fort Bragg area and am looking to upgrade from a sling to a gun. I want to use it for mostly lings, cabbies, etc. I've been looking at a couple wood and metal guns: riffe padauk, jbl 38 special aluminum, pathos open pro, jbl woody elite 29, and more. I'm definitely leaning towards a hawaiian flopper tip and I'm torn between wood and metal. I like the look and feel of wood but I think that it would be nice to have a metal gun that might sit on the bottom better as a marker for holes/abs. As far as length I was thinking ~27-38". Also, I like the American style guns but I'm open to a euro style such as the pathos. Any input is appreciated! I'm currently maxing out my dives at ~25' but I'll likely progress this year, especially if I upgrade to freedive fins. Thanks

The pathos laser open pro 60cm is perfect for hole hunting/ab marking at that depth. Couple that with a hi vis white floatline and its a really nice setup.
