Hello my name is James and am a newbie kayaker in eureka (originally a desert boy no water exp.).  Being a newbie I've got a lot of ground to cover and will be hopefully get some practice time in.  I love to fish but that was always from a bank not my new to me t-11 that pretty much fell in my lap (gotta be a sign right?).  Anyways I wanted to say hello and thanks so far for all the great info I've been able to gather as a guest that made me know I had to join the site.  I look forward to learning about kayak fishing and hopefully spending some time on the water with you guys!

Thanks for the welcome guys

Live2fish no I haven't ever been out on the saltwater before. Big learning curve for me and will definitely need to go out with someone for some first trips.

Be happy to meet up sometime for some yak fishing. Lots of good spots around here.  Make sure ur prepared tho (safety gear).  There's some good surf perch fishing in Humboldt bay this time of year.  Trinidad also has some good bottom fishing when it opens in a couple months.  Good spot to get used to being on the ocean.

It would definitely be cool to meetup and fish sometime. The bay may be my next target after it rains and rivers are still muddy

Hi James and welcome to NCKA. I'll echo a previous poster and stress safety. There's a sticky around here somewhere regarding kayak safety.

LoletaEric is an experienced guide and lives in your neck of the woods. I'd consider contacting him about a guided trip if I were you.

Best of luck with your first yak.
