Question:Can I use food stamps to buy a fishing license? (a telephone caller)

Answer: No.

 

I would support a change in that law. Maybe even make low income waivers available upon showing of a 2 hour course on regulations and a showing of economic need. Then let them use food stamps to purchase bait and tackle.

Buy a man a fish vs teach a man to fish is apparently a lesson never learned.

Yeah, like fishing is SOOOOO much cheaper than buying it in a store.  I don't think so.  Lord help me if my wife ever found out I was using the food money to go fishing instead of buying groceries and used an excuse of any sort!
