Gadgetman and I crabbed Tomales Bay today. I was unable to attend the Crabfest at Doran on Sunday so the next best thing was to go on Saturday.  We launched at Miller Park and set the pots pulling and relocating them twice but the crab were gone.  25 rockies and 4 dungies....all too small except for 5 rocks.  We did however fish for perch while waiting for the crabs and ended the day with 12 nice striped seapeach all 11-13.5 inches.  Good luck to all who attend the party at Doran and be safe.  A few photos for your approval...

Typical pot of rather smallish rockies.

Steve with a double of striped seaperch.

The final take.

Any day on the water is a good day.

What was your perch rig/strategy? I only know about the Carolina in the surf. Were you doing something different?

Thanks!
Hey Dtizz we were just drifting along a long section of beach on the Pt Reyes side at the beginning of the flood tide using a half (only 3 hooks) sabiki with little pieces of nightcrawler on each hook (size 14).  A 3/4 to 1 oz sinker and staying in about 17 feet of water did the trick.  It was my first try at surf perch and I look forward to eating them!
