Still poor, not really . But I'm just getting back into fishing, after a 20 something year break.
My luck is I've decided to start fishing again in California's biggest drought in 30 years. DOH!
I/we my lady and I just bought very beginner kayaks, So far I've made two outings, no fish and I've not drowned, so still in the win column.
Lurking on this board has been very helpful, so thank you all.
If you see a grey bearded guy fishing in a lime green non-fishing kayak, say Hi

Tom
I'll be spotted mostly around Sacramento

Be careful, the sport is very addicting and can get expensive.  Half the cost battle is won by including your lady.   Welcome aboard and good fishing!!!

But you will die rich. Between all the great adventures and all the awesome people you meet, your life will be enhanced.
Although you will be broke. Give anything of any value to your kin now before you need to pawn.
If you want to thank a Vet, be a person worth fighting for.

Sorry to hear your Poor, this kayaking thing aint going to help. Welcome..  :smt006

My budget was 500 to get into kayak and fish.. Now its over 1300 spent and I bought a used Kayak..  I plan on catching 10 WSB and a lot of lings within the next few years. I will hope to cover the kayak with all the fish $$ ill be saving instead of buying from the market... Its how I justified it to my wife; and she dont even eat fish. :fishing2 :fishing1

Thanks all for the warm welcome.

Indeed it has been fun so far, haven't been able to catch anything yet. But being out is were it's at. Last weekend I was threatened by a swan, nearly pooped on by cormorants, but had a fantastic time anyway.
Maybe that's why I'm not catching much , but that's ok by me. Like you all have said , being out and paddling is good for the soul.
