Installing my just purchased Elite 4 HDI on my Revo 13.  Got the transucer and battery in today, wondering where to mount the fishfinder itself.  Was going to Ram mount it along the side, but it's going to stick up high and seems like it's always going to be in the way (I realize that seems to be the norm though).   I've also  seen them mounted right on the forward hatch cover, that seems low profile and yet out of the way of pedaling.   Anyone tried that?

I will let the Hobie guys chime in. I have mine on a rail on the side. Works just fine for my Tarpon.

I put mine on the right side, just in front of the mesh pocket. Far enough forwards so I can straddle easy, but still close enough to push buttons. The sail mount just seemed way to far away for me.
I used a ram mount so it's easy to lay flat if really needed.

Here's a more betterer pic with it final version. I added the ball mount to free up the mighty mount for a rod holder. For me, it's perfecto.  :smt001

Another vote for the setup shown above. Mine is very similar, and I have no complaints. The Lowrance is within easy reach, but doesn't stick up enough to annoy me. Also, with the Ram mount you can just give it a push and fold it down in the heat of the moment if you think it might be in the way.

I'm getting ready to do an install on my revo 11 and ran across this guys very detailed install of his Elite 4 HDI.  http://dizzybigfish.co.uk/hobie-revolution-kayak-fishfinder-mount/  Maybe it'll give you some ideas on your 13.  I'm going to do the same as him but I'll be moving it up just slightly so I can still throw my leg over the side easily.  I thought his battery bag was a great idea too.  Hope it helps.

I also went with rails for my old Outback and on my Revo. The GT rails from YakAttack are awesome. With the GT rails and Ram rail ball attachment setup, it allowed me the ability to remove everything and keep the deck clean. This also let me transport the boat upside down without worrying about positioning on the rack or getting caught up on something sticking up off the deck. It was a build and tear down every trip but I liked it. I backed all the rails with pieces of a aluminum ruler I picked up cheap at Harbor Freight.
