decieded to go fly fishing on my favorite creek for Steelhead today and pulled out my favorite 6wt only to discovery that some how there is a nasty nick in the inside of the tiptop guide. It created a very sharp edge that is cutting into the leader/flyline whatever comes it contact with.... so I am bummed out bigtime! I have no Idea how this has happened. This was by far the luckiest rod I have ever owned !!  Merry X mas .looks like the old 7wt will see alot more action this year!!!

Your gear doesn't like you playing favorites.  Hope it gets fixed.  I wasn't able to fly fish at all last year.  Hopefully I can this coming year.

Replacing the tip.guide on a rod is an easy fix:
Slowly heat the tip guide (not the rod!)with a match just until you are able to gently wiggle it free with pliers.  Measure the diameter of the rod at the tip and buy a new guide. Smear some 5 minute epoxy or hot glue on the end of the rod and slide on the guide.

dont use epoxy!  use tip-top glue, its cheap and does the job without being forever...
