Ram mount 4 elite 4x

hey guys,  I just got my Ram mount for my new Elite 4x and sadly a lip on the mounting plate is preventing in from fitting well, It doesnt lock in and falls right out when tilted foward, Is that normal?? I sent an E mail to Bill/FFAC and to the retailer I purchased it from. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks David

Your talking about the mounting bracket that plugs right into the back of the unit?

If so make sure the spring mechanism on the unit itself is engaging fully open (on pull) and closed (on release). Make sure there is nothing stopping it from closing all the way which would lock that RAM bracket into place.

I think the mounting plate is upside down (haven't looked at mine a while).

Also, the slide the black plastic on the back of the main unit up to install (it should be sprung).

Yeah I just had to slide the back plate upwards and it fits like a glove! I am an IDIOT!!! Thanks everyone!!!! boy do I feel dumb!

Don't feel bad, I stared at mine for a while trying to get the head unit onto the standard swivel base and was like WTF ? Finally Googled it and saw that the back plate is on a spring slide. I guess I'm just used to units that are less easily removed than that. Nice feature once I figured it out.

I know the feeling!  That's why I always use the Interwebs as a last ditch effort.  I've learned the hard way that Google and/or YouTube usually has AN answer.  It might not be the correct/proper answer, but there are some ingenious solutions for non-problems!

Check out Amazon for your battery and mount.  I picked up a sealed 12 volt battery with free two day mailing (took three, Christmas in the middle) for under $20.  Used a 9 volt type battery connection so I could use the "clamshell" 8 AA from my 4X Pro as a backup.

You want the RAM-B-101-LO11 mount. Check eBay or Amazon or any other online sporting goods dealer. They're usually somewhere in the $25 ballpark.
