Actually, they are that big when planted.  They come down from Lassen County.  Fish & game plants some small ones from Idaho.  But, the big ones are from Lassen.

Jmairey,

I am anchored up.  But, when the conditions are right (slow drift...light wind) the fish do like the powerbait moving.  Sometimes I do back paddle to kept the bait moving slowly.  6 lb test main line and 4 lb leader.  2 to 3 ft is good for the leader.

There are restrooms all around the lake.  Flush toilets with running water faucets  near the picnic area, fishing cleaning station and swim area.  All the rest are outhouses.  But, nice outhouses.  the handicap ones are big.

Bring a lunch because I heard there are vending machines for candy bars and may have softdrinks.  But, once you are in.  There are no in and out passes.  Unless you buy a yearly pass.

Fishing from shore there are a lot of places.  Near the boat ramp (must be I think a 100 ft away from the ramp).  Both sides of the swim area and below the picnic area.  Some guys bring carts or mountain bikes to get to the far-er places.  Use green, rainbow or white powerbait.  Yellow, green or white powereggs or nightcrawlers  if you want to go for catfish, smallmouth, largemouth or trout.  I would put a small marshmellow before the worm.  So the worm will float.  Use half a worm.

Use a 1/2 oz egg sinker or bigger so you can throw way out there.  But, a lot of times the trout crusie pretty close.  Go walk around first,  see what the guys are using and how many fish they have on the stringers.

Bring chairs and there is not shade.

No lead and no beer.

Thanks for the Xtra Details on the lake!  it is very helpful in planning a trip to unchartered waters.
