I've logged too many fish caught on and around a full moon to fill it makes any difference.  There are so many other factors that come into play.  I feel people use a full moon as the excuse for not catching fish when most of the time it can be attributed to many other weather conditions and water condition.

This goes for bass, trout, stripers, pretty much every fish I have gone for.  Weather is the number issue to take into account.
I agree 100%.  Weather and water conditions seem to override the effects of the moon on fish.  If there's a drop in barometric pressure with an approaching storm, I'll be out there fishing regardless of the moon phase.  If a storm moves out and high pressure returns, the fishing is likely going to suck regardless of the moon phase.  A sudden warm spell in early spring is going to get the bass biting whether it's a full-moon phase or a dark moon phase.

But when everything remains the same for an extended period of time (such as clear+sunny, no storms, steady barometer, steady temps), I feel the moon phases do play a big role.  My neighbor and I compared notes on years' worth of fishing trips, and we discovered a pattern related to the moon phases.  I used to doubt the power of the moon, but now I'm a firm believer.  I agree that it's not a factor that overrides other variables such as weather changes and water conditions...but when everything else is constant, the moon phase can make a difference.

Here's a link to solunar tables.  During full and new moon periods the major period is mid-day.  I'm a strong believer in the solunar periods, although other regional/local factors can be dominant (e.g., water temp, clarity, air pressure, etc.) at any particular time. Been many, many days when the bite has suddenly turned-on during the major period.

There's also an iphone or ipad app that uses the same logic called Fishing Calendar.  I compared the "highest efficiency" times on the app with the link provided above and they are in sync.

I use the same app and it's worked for me most of the time. The best fishing times are usually spot-on. The time FishingAddict caught his troutzilla a few weeks ago was at the tail end of the best fishing time on the app.

i have had more slow days after/durring a full moon phase.....there have been good bites on the ocean only a couple of times, but it is usually noteably slower than usual.
