A family friend dropped by tonight to bring some HMB salmon over.  They got early limits yesterday (Monday), about 8 miles out, avg 10-12lbs.

He's got the connections to the Watsonville/Salinas guys (mostly farmers) and said the Cypress bite (Pt Joe to Carmel) died down the day after commercial opened (5/1).   However, he got the call this afternoon that there was a good bite off Pajaro today (much better grade than HMB).  This wasn't posted on the Bayside website, so I assume either word hasn't gotten out or it was a fluke.  I really hope its the start of something good.
He also told me that the commercial salmon season above Pigeon doesn't open until July or June.  I guess that's good news for the HMB bite, but just means more pressure in the Monterey Bay region.

I'm starting to get the itch again.

Stuart
