Enjoying a few days off so, in preparation for Crabfest, I thought I would add some weight to my traps.
I rescued these weights before a Machinist could put them in the scrap bin, they weigh about 3 pounds each.
Drilled a couple of holes near the edges for attachment. a couple of zip-ties and I am in business.
I placed them on the outside of the traps. I think they will settle in the sand.
And the pots still collapse.

Dorr weights definitely work! When I had a PB and an electric puller, I crabbed in 160 ft of water; I left pots out from the open to about Christmas time. I left 6 crabs in an un-baited pot for 7 days, when I came back there were 5 crabs in it. I used Danielson's with 12lbs of weight and weighted doors. Can't wait for CRABFEST!!!!
