RBark started a thread on this for his Dad and seems to have finished it off.

So I thought I'd start one more general in nature since I am about as gift idea challenged as you can get. In my circle no one actually needs anything and we all have just about anything we want, and finally we aren't big ticket gift givers.

So I'm looking for ideas, heck the collective mind of NCKA is as good as it gets.

I'll start with a few,  For the people who have everything,

Cooked frozen food, sound strange?  Heat and eat meals, Each year I do big pans of Chili Verde and Pot Roasts.  Cook it till it's ready to eat, buy inexpensive pyrex dishes with lids and make up family size dinners,  Give that to a working Mom, or someone who likes to eat but not to cook.  Do your signature dish that would stand up to re-heating.  I have peeps who put my Chili Verde on their wish lists.  Wrapping and transporting frozen meals presents a bit of a challenge but it can be a hit.

Jerky, home made, and of course smoked fish, I have a niece that asks for it every year.

Jam, home made, of course ya gotta plan way ahead for that one.

Lots of work in the above but at least its at home and not in a Mall.  It's become a time in my circle where small and thoughtful means allot more than big and flashy.

I sure could use some ideas ............................

The best gift I gave my parents in the recent years was a Electric photo frame (hear me out)....

If you have a large family this works great.

A) it's wireless

B) It comes with an email account.

C) give the email account to all the family

D) they just send any pictures directly to the photoframe by using the email and it automatically updates

E) my my parents sit back and watch the kids/grandkids grow

(Once all my brothers chipped in, it came out to a fair deal and my parents love it....so does my mother in law)

Wow Thnx, didn't take long to get some great ideas , keep'em coming this thread might offer stress relief to people like me.

Not so much a gift but something that paid off for our family,

Years ago when my kids were small we didn't have allot of money but we had enough.  My company put out toy barrels this time of year and we started a tradition of taking the kids shopping for toys for the barrel, they were old enough to understand what they were doing and were really into it.  Not sure if it contributed to it but my kids have ended up being some pretty generous adults.

These are some really good idea. Many of them too late for me to do, but definitely next year. Some more personal gifts would be great.
