Shellback, call Coastside # 2 (650) 359.9790 and talk to Marque (the owner) - he'll have the current crabbing reports from the Pacifica Pier  :smt002

Do people catch dungees from the SC warf?

I've got a hoop.  Might be worth it to drop the hoop and drink a couple of "sodas" at the pier.

I was out at SC Wharf yesterday from about 2PM to 7PM.  Dropped the hoop with a RF carcass as bait and caught quite a few ~3" dungees but nothing even near adult size.  I didn't pay real close attention but I don't recall seeing many people out with the hoops while I was there.

I remember fishing there as a kid with my family and I think we used to catch some keeper crabs but the lady in the tackle shop on the wharf gave me the impression that the likelyhood of catching one nowadays is pretty slim.

I think it gets better later in the season as they come closer to shore...

Crabbing in Monterey Bay is usually poor. Sea otters ate them all. You have to go deeper than 240 ft, which is the otter's diving limit when you start to get into crabs.

I've never seen a keeper dungie at SC wharf. Or any crabs of any size. You'll end up with more starfish than crabs there.
But yet, if you use cut bait while fishing, the crabs will steal it all...
