hello future fishing friends, new hobie pa fisherman here looking to get kayak fishing experience out on the north coast.  I have been out crabbing the last 5 seasons on a friends 14 foot aluminum boat up in trinidad and crescent city, and finally decided to get my own boat.  totally fell in love with the idea of a smaller fishing kayak.  looking forward to meeting people with the same passion for catching and enjoying delicious bounty that the north coast has to offer.

Welcome aboard and a great way to look at the layoff situation.  Got to find a career that is not based on the seasons. For sanity and financial reasons.

I like your handle.  If not fishing salt water, I'd rather be fishing the "A,B,C Lakes" or Maneaten in your neck of the woods.  Now if I could just find a way to get my Hobie to them . . .

Weather permitting, headed to Trinidad next weekend for some crabbing.

Danglin - congrats on making it to retirement in one piece. I look forward to being in your shoes someday!   i just did my first summer as an LT engineer at Cameron Park, hoping to get permanent next summer.

Soma - Love those lakes, spent many days exploring around them all. Maneaten is probably the most rewarding lake to get to, breathtaking crystal blue green waters, and very hungry fish.   I originally grew up on the salmon river, and moved out to scott valley to go to high school.  Definately god's country...  Trinidad should be a blast as long as the waves arent too big out at the beach launch.  I've been up to crescent city the last few seasons and prefer the paid launch, but both places rock for crabbing.  Im gunna try and make it out there just after the new year once i get all my gear dialed in and feel comfortable operating it on flat water.
