I've had the Elite 4 HDI. Both my old lowrance and new one has got fog inside the FF.  Does anyone know if this is a common problem or should I send it in for warranty?

I would send it in under warranty.  Have not encountered that with mine but I guess it is possible.  They should be able to have you a replacement in about a week.

yeah i just called customer support and they said that they would take care of it for me.  He said that it shouldn't be fogging up but since it has happened to both my lowrance units i'm not so sure.  Either way, great service and they stood by their product with great customer service.  :smt003

Glad to hear they are going to take care of you.  Maybe it got some condensation in thru the chart chip trap door on the bottom of the unit????  Not 100% sure but let them get it replaced & no worries from there on out!

Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

I believe they are Hobie plugs ?, I got them at Headwaters in Redding. You can call them and confirm that though.  (530) 223-2411

Cpt,

I too used the Hobie Wire Caps & LOVE THEM!!!!  They include an assortment of rubber grommets that allow for a variety of wire sizes & ALSO include a rubber grommet to cap off the hole in the ent you later remove a piece of equipment & need to plug it back up.  They come 2 "feedthru's" to a pack.  I called the Redding Headwaters store & ordered a few a while back.  Time to get more myself!  I use them on my kayaks for sure but also on trailers, boats, etc.  where I want a good looking, water-sealed feedthru.
