Fish mutation?

My brother caught these in Colorado. Anyone seen this before?

Several year ago my son and I were fishing on Battle Creek near Manton when my son landed an eighteen inch trout that looked a lot like the top fish in the photo.  Not much fish between its anal vent and tail.  Genetic defect?

top one looks like a case of whirling disease, but the bio's might know better

I got one very similar at Amador two years ago.

It looks like a derp to me.  My guess is that it is a hatchery fish that had some growth defect and would have been preyed upon early on in its life if it hadn't been raised in a hatchery where meals come free and predators need to sneak by chain link and netting. 

....or whirling disease.

Mother nature doesn't allow derps! All fish are God's creatures.

hell its got a normal tail....I call it good to go!

I have caught a bow that looked like that but smaller. The weirdest one I've seen was Siamese twins king salmon smolt at a hatchery in Alaska. They were joined at the back so it looked as the smolt was piggy backing one another. I asked the hatchery worker about it and he said they get that every now and then but they eventually die.

  It's a Dorf fish, Tim Conway and I catch them all the time.
