Dear NCKA Baruddahs,

I purchased a Shmano Chronarch 150 C14 Baitcasting reel and want to get a Trevala rod for this reel. It seems that there are a lot of differentTrevala rods that range from$119 to $169. I like one piece rods because they are very stong and looking at a 6'6" rod. There is  the Trevala TVS-66MH 6'6" rod that got good reviews for $119 and Trevala 60 Heavy Actin for $169.
If any of you have a great recommedation for a Trevala for the Chronarh reel, I  would greatly appreciate your feedback.
My main fishing combo right now is a Shimano TLD 15 reel and a 6'6" Penn Power Stick rod. the TLD 15 reel is also a great reel for deep water rockfishing. It is light with the one piece graphite body I have dumpd it in the ocean and even after being fully submeged, it works like a charm. I think that this is the best al around reel for the price.

Anyway, mostly want some info about Shimano Trevala rods that would be a good combo for the ChronarchC14 Baitcasting reel???

Mahalo,

Da Baruddah (Micharl Y.)

I have the regular Trevala Medium and has served me well. A medium heavy or heavy might be an overkill for what we catch around here. I pair it with a Calcutta round reel. I also have the trevala S Medium, but I use the other Trevala more.

For that reel would go trevala s medium. The standard trevala has a bulkier handle and would feel cumbersome for me anyways.are you sure you want to use a ci4 for bottom fishing.I would be a little concern on the flex of the frame.well I guess it would depend on how heavy of a weight your dropping
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Bruddah,
I have a medium in 6'6" and a medium/light in 7'.  I think medium/heavy will be overkill.  I hardly ever use my medium 6'6".  I always go for the medium/light because the length/action combo make it a good all around rod to use.  That's what I caught my salmon that day I saw you otw.

Also keep in mind the warranty has changed on those rods now. :(

Eh Bruddahs,

Thanks for the tips. Seems like the Trevala 6'6" or 7' medium-light might be a good possibity. Is there an place in the BayArea where I could check a rod like that out?

You can try mine out st the green can on Monday Michael. Mine is a 7 footer. I love the pole. I combine it with Saltist 20.  Perfectly balanced :smt007.  I bough a Saltist 30.  I think it is an overkill.

I got my Trevala S from Hi's Tackle Box in South San Francisco.  I know they had a selection of Trevalas.

Hio Bruddah,

If you haven't already bought it, I picked up my Trevala 6'6 M at Discount Mart’s Bay Tackle & Sporting Goods in El Cerrito.  They have a pretty good selection and reasonably friendly staff.

Cheers,
Diego

Hi Diego,

Thanks for your tip. I have bought a lot of odds and ends from Bay Tackle and the owner George has been very helpful.
I wanted a 7' Trevala and ended up buying one from Amazon for $119.

Take Care,
Da Bruddah (Michael Y,)
By the way I live in Oakland and fish at HMB most of the time.
