Threaded screw-in for Hobie

I wanted to replace the screw-in cleat on my Hobie with a cam cleat. I ended up making something that seems like it might be useful in other situations, so I thought I'd post here. I'm sure others have done this before, but I couldn't find it---most likely because I don't know what to search for.

The pictures probably tell the story better than I can, but here's my attempt to provide some additional details. I removed the "shock cord end screws" (that's what Hobie calls them) that hold the bungee on the side of the kayak---the thing that used to keep the paddle in place. A 1/4" bolt fits easily thru the hole in a "shock cord end screw". So, I sanded the inside of the hole, and embedded a couple of 1/4" nuts in epoxy. I think it's important to have 2 nuts in there, and to keep them separated from each other. The nuts need to be threaded onto a bolt to hold them in place, and some wax on the bolt is essential, or you'll never get it out after the epoxy sets.
