Spent 2 days fishing around Burney, Baum lake was awesome both in fish and scenery. I tried the fly pole, but not very good with it. So back to the tried and true Panther martin, and cast master. Also did a little fishing below Burney falls nothing was caught there.

Great place I'd like to spend more time there.

Great pictures. This was actually one of the first places i ever fished from my kayak.  Its a great area, to bad it's so far away and in the middle of no-where. If you feel like a drive Kangaroo lake and Medicine lake up in the same area are also great fishing.

Taking a week and fishing that area was the plan, untill a bug hit us,  :smt078 and we had to cut it short.

I'll go again, but not for awhile

Craigh, Great pics. That falls is perfect for fly fishing early in the morning about sunrise. The only thing you'll catch there later on the wholly bugger are tourist who want to get to close while your casting.
Another great place to fly fish there is the lower part of Hat Creek where the evening bite seems the best. Also during this time of year is Butte Lake. Of course the whole area is a haven for trout.

Sorry,

Guys but the 2 trout with the colors in my opinion are stockers.  Maybe hold overs.  But rounded tail is a sure sign or no tail at all.

Awesome lookin country!  Where did you camp at?  I would like to explore that area next summer and was looking for good camgrounds.  I really want to check out the fall river.

Travis Burney Falls has a camp ground right where the falls is with in walking distance. But being a family oriented facility it gets noisy/crowded. One of the best places is the upper Hat Creek area or the aforementioned Butte Lake. Where ever you decide there are tons of choses in this area.

I had the girl friend and her daughter, so we stayed at the Burney Hotel. about 10-15min from the falls.
But the camp grounds at the falls were nice.
