Rancho Seco Lake is a great place to relax and kayak. Here is the web site:
https://www.smud.org/en/about-smud/community/recreational-areas/rancho-seco-lake.htm

The web site has all the info on directions, costs and park hours. This is a great place to bring the entire family to kayak and picnic. There are two ramps for launching, one on each side of the dam.

The cost to launch a kayak is $10 (with senior discount), a little higher for you younger folks.

I verified there are still fish in the lake by catching a 15 inch LM Bass today. Sorry, but no pictures, forgot my camera, but remembered my ruler.

Your post must have inspired some people to go out to Rancho Seco, I was on the water with 7 other kayak anglers today. Usually go out once a week and I have the lake to my self. Its good that others are out enjoying the lake like I do.

I hope everyone caught something. That was my third trip and first fish at Rancho Seco. I had started to think I would never catch a fish there, but Mr Bass made a splash when I was near by. I had already given up on my bass rod and gear for the day and was using my ultra-lite rod with a 2 inch curly tail grub and tossed the lure to the reed line behind the splash. I remember the lure hitting the water and the next thing I know line is peeling off my reel and the bass is headed across the cove. My first thought was "Crap, I left my camera home!"

I had launched out of the first ramp and caught the bass off of one of the points to the left of the ramp (hint).

I have had good luck all summer casting and trolling a Jackall spybait. I don't always see the numbers but will get a good pull from the one I do hook up with.

Thanks for the info. I had never heard of a Jackall Spybait and had to "Google" it. I will be buying some soon.

A lot of tweakers like to camp their in the summertime.  I have fished that place a lot and have had some great days out there.  There are some huge bass, as in over 12 pounds.  My biggest trout was 8 pounds, it got me 2nd place in the derby a couple years back.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
