At least 20 years ago the largest fish ever caught on hook and line was a GWS on the East Coast.
The angler climbed on top of a dead whale that a few sharks were feeding on.
The guy was a guest on either Letterman or Carson telling his story.
Unfortunately there was no vid because how long ago it was but I'm sure it was very similar to
what this guy was doing.

I especially like how the idiot uses his face for leverage climbing on top of the whale
