Hit the American River this morning with Tote.  We launched at Discovery Park and paddled 3+ miles upriver to the Capital City Freeway Bridge.  We anchored up under the train bridge just below the Capital City Freeway Bridge and fished there for a while.  We witnessed one salmon about 10 lbs being caught early in the morning, and I think I marked one fish on the fishfinder all day.  None of the other boats that we talked to seemed to be catching anything and a couple of boats commented that they had not marked anything on their fishfinders.  Tote was kind enough to let me try out a pair of RoRows and I was impressed with them.  They made the long paddle a lot easier.  Even though we got skunked I still enjoyed the adventure.

I took a small video just messing around with my camera.  It just shows Tote fishing, the view around us, and the cockpit of my X-Factor.  I wish it was a video of fighting a fish instead.  For some reason the quality of the video went to crap after I uploaded it to youtube.

Thanks for the report Travis. The river sure looks nice in your pics.

I was very suprised that the water was so clear and we didn't even see anything.  I think I'm gunna hold off on the salmon until they come in thick, if they ever do.  It is going to be Lake Pacific for me next weekend if the conditions are good.

Thanks for the video.  I had imagined the water moving a lot faster than that. I think I was drifting at least that fast in the 10K wind on the bay the other day, so I guess you can paddle against it, especially near the shore.  I'm working up toward making a trip there some day.
