I took my dad to Indonesia and we went out in a dugout with my friend Eddie out of Waisai in Raja Ampat.  Caught over 20 yellowfin tuna and also had one marlin hit a yellowfin we'd hooked.  Fought the marlin on handline for 1/2 an hour before it spat out the yellowfin then it hit the tuna again right by the boat and was hooked properly.  Ended up releasing it as we had no way to fit a marlin in the boat...

As you can see Eddie wanted me to speargun it at the boat.  That clearly became not an option once we realized how big the marlin was...

Wow, that's a huge Marlin!  Good thing you got a good video of it jumping.  Really no need to kill something like that.  Must have been fun catching all that tuna too.  I will be in Bali in Feb. 2015.  Now I wonder how good the fishing there would be.  Thanks for sharing.

Rey, if you're going to Bali in Feb. and looking to do some fishing I suggest being ready with rapallas/marauders and wire leaders for Wahoo and Spanish Mackerel.  Off the coast at Uluwatu there are some nice sized ones that time of year.  I could set you up with a friend of mine over there who is really into fishing if you'd like.  Super cool Balinese family.  Also a decent chance at Dorado fairly close to shore.

For dogtooth tuna and GTs you'll have to head over to Nusa Penida, there are some great places over there with a great drop off and lots of current.

Wow... I really enjoyed that video.  THANKS!
That boat ride looked a little wet and sketchy.  That's exciting!

Sounds like fun.  Might be a able to squeeze a few hours after golf in the morning.  We should be there feb. 4 to feb. 9th.  I can also skip some of the city tours and just go fishing.  We will be at the Ramayan Resort.  Is that close to your friends place?  That would be great if I can hook up with your friend.
Thanks.

That was pretty awesome!!!  Hand lining a fish like that gives me new inspiration to try it again!
