Question for Hojo

I have a cat with feline leukemia and was wondering if it is any type of violation to just take it home from the vet and have it run loose in my backyard so it can live out its last days in nature. My backyard does have some mountain lions that frequent the area and if they eat my cat may become infected with this dreaded feline disease.

I have no idea. You can ask Fish & Game (I know, it's Fish & Wildlife now) the question. I am merely posting current and past questions asked of F&G, that I have received in email notifications.

I think it is irresponsible of you to consider this since it can be transmitted to other cats. Not sure if it can be transmitted to big cats, but house cats can be susceptible to it. Do you want to infect your neighbors animals too?
