Will be taking a break from the ocean.  Looks like the winds and seas will be up this week.  Going to Quarry for trout.  Be there at 6:30-7am.  Looked at the web site and they got 1,500 lbs on 10-2 and 10-16 will get 750 lbs. more.

I trolled it all day 10/14 top to bottom using rainbow runner red, and green, needle fish shad pattern, spinner with nightcrawler, silver castmaster, thunder spoon in gold.rappala orange belly, shad rap green top white belly, couple of other minnow imtations.Listened to the A's when they were 3 up, switched over to Cal vs Washington, for a nada.Another boater targeting smallmouth trolled up a trout he said was 3lbs.The small mouth are active on top chaseing schools of minnows the lake is full of shad minnows top to 30ft.One fold-a-boat was draging a small mouth on a stringer,Another two boats caught smallmouth 1 each.that were releasted. There were 2 recreational kayakers in a blowup and a pod paddleing around the lake.Maybe the plant will help. They usually become active 2 to3 day after the plant.Serface temp 66 degrees. The 1500lbs plant went to the kids derby. There was a net put in at fishermans row.each kid took home a fish weighting up to 7.5lbs average 3lbs. I helped measure and weight the fish. The way i look at my outings it's called fishing, catching is a bonus.Have a great day
GO FISHING AND ENJOY THE OUTING I DO

Raymac,

Thanks for the info.  1,500 lbs seem to be a lot for this lake.  Usually they get 500 to 1,000 lbs.  I usually just fish power bait on the bottom here.  I may go to Chabot, then.  Good reports coming out of there. They are getting 750 lbs of trout 10-16 & 10-9 2,000 of Cats. Trolling w/ firetiger rapalas, needlefish, crawlers & flashers.  5-10ft deep.  Del Valle will be getting 3,000 lbs on 10-16.  Shadow Cliffs is get 10-9 500lbs and 10-16 750 lbs.

Trout season is starting.

Hmmm.  A ton and a half of trout plus hungry Smallies and Stripers already there? Sound like it's worth a visit in the next month or so.
I have heard Del Valle is horrendously drawn down during November/December though.

No stripers.  But, Quarry has smallmouth & largemouth bass.  Plus Cats.  It was seems to get bigger trout than Shadow Cliffs. Avg. trout is 13" to 18" and 4" to 5" wide.  Only trolling motors here.  They plant trout every 2 weeks like most of the east bay lakes.  It does get windy and your going to need a anchor, unless your going to just troll.

If you saw Raymac message.  The 1,500 lbs of fish are all gone.  It was a kid's fishing day.

Del Valle get some very big trout (20" to 24") but not that many.  A lot of their fish are a little above reg. size stockers.  Del Valle has the Stripers, smallmouth, largemouth and cats.  Only problem with Del is that many of the power boat go over the speed limit.  And, there are a lot of narrow areas they fly pass.  It is also a pretty big lake to paddle from one end to the other.

I hear you about Del Valle. Never been there, but what you say I've heard from others.
Maybe a good tiem to hit Quarry for Smallies bfore the lake turns ove and they settle in to their Winter lethargy.
I'd take Trout too of coruse, but stockers aren't my favorites--give me a well-shouldered Eagle Lake Strain rainbow or Brown anyday.

Still the storm door is going to swing wide open any day now and those Alaska storms will shut out the ocean for us mostly.
