Sure thing Alex. I say we have a Perch Derby--heaviest fish wins--for fun and charity sometime later this Fall. We could bring fryers and make fish tacos of them for llunch right there on the beach. Yum.

Hi kickfish,

that sounds good I have to try that recipe.

J, if you like fried fish this is how i prep my perch for frying....

after scaling, gutting and puttin a couple of slits on both sides of the perch i dry them out with a few paper towels, salt to taste put the fish in the fridge to firm up. then fry in a shallow pan of hot oil for about 4 to 6 mi nuts on each side.

I find it when you prep your fish this way it would come out a lot firmer and stays together while cooking.

If i have to i will cook you some fried perch myself so you could just enjoy peace brother! :smt003

Perching fishing I like to go to San Gregorio State Beach.  You can park arcoss the street at the Bus Stop and get in early.  Gates open at 8 am.  If you do go you need to walk north once you get on the beach.  After you get pass the big cliff you will see the holes.  The father north you go the better.

Also, there is Sunset Beach near Moss Landing (Pajaro River)  gate is always open because of the camp grounds.  Sign are posted that the beach opens at 8am.  But, I have had no rangers every talk to me about being in early.

Also, near Sunset is Palm Beach.  Near Pajaro Beach Townhouses.  There are 4-6 places to park near the gate (outside the gate).  So you can walk in any time.  I have walked north to Sunset Beach from here.  Not to bad of a walk.
