As a new member, I just wanted to say thanks for letting me join this group.....lots of great info being posted. I also wanted to mention that for my first yak, I got the Field & Stream from Dicks. It's maiden voyage was a couple weekends ago at Clear Lake, conditions were flat, calm and found it easy to maneuver. Yesterday was a bit different.....we went to Tomalas Bay. It started off with a lite wind, maybe 6 to 8 kts....by 3pm it was gusting to 20+ and 2 ft+ swells coming well over the front of the yak. With that said, it still handled very well and even though I was soaked, the yak never took any water inside, wallet and phone stayed perfectly dry inside the small storage just infront of me.

Welcome to the Forum! Tomales Bay can get a nasty wind chop at times. Be safe out there! See you out there sometime!
