I just returned from a trip to Oregon for fishing and family visits.  While there, I had the pleasure of attending Roy Markum's Angler of the Day tournament at Sunset Bay.  This is a much smaller event than most of the Norcal events (40 anglers) but Roy and the guys proved that size really doesn't matter!  The weather the day before the tourney was amazing with clear blue skies and flat and calm seas.  Unfortunately, that all changed the following day.  It was foggy, windy and the swells were big and tightly spaced.  There weren't a lot of fish caught and I'm pretty sure nobody ventured beyond the cove but it was still a great day on the water.  I fished along side Dana Holden, who was my neighbor at the Sunset Bay campground.  Dana caught enough fish to win the tournament and I caught nothing.  The NWKA guys are a great bunch of people and I look forward to fishing their events in the future.  For those who have never been to Sunset Bay, it's worth the trip just to see its beauty and the campground is amazing too.  It's a short walk down a trail to the beach where you can launch.  This tourney will definitely be on my calendar for next year.

Kudos and Thanks to Roy and all the NWKA members!  A great event!

That campground and spot are super cool.  Highly recommended.  Oregon rocks.
