Hello to all
l have an dual hatch scupper pro.I would like to mount an hummingbird 140c
Fish buddy. but my concerns are weight and stability . scuppers are not the most stable Of yaks. I like the 140c because its all in one set up.
at this point all and any advice is much appreciated. Thanks guys

How are you planning on clamping that fish finder onto your scupper pro? I would recommend getting a fish finder with a transducer that you can glue inside your kayak.

I agree with Krusty.

I had the Humminbird fish buddy for a while and mainly used in on aluminium boat.  The clamp was fairly easy to fit on the side and it worked reasonably well.

Looking at a picture of the Scupper Pro, I guess there may be a way to make the clamp tight, but it sure does not look easy.  Not to mention that you will have to keep the main unit out of the clamp while launching and landing at a beach.  An unit with a transducer sure looks like a better option.

when launching I would put the unit in the yak. No wires, no additional power source, no transducers . Trying to keep it simple.  just got to figure a mounting bracket for the unit. my main concern is if and when during rough launch
And return to shore if the yak gets flip over, the bracket could damage the kayak.
Like at bean . Thanks for all the info.

On my Prowler 13, I mounted my Humminbird fish finder using a Ram mount.

I fold down the head to protect it during surf launches. The transducer was mounted in the hull, so that was protected also.

+1 I agree with the Ram Mount also, it can be kept clean and simple. Scupper Pro is a great kayak.
