Hi guys,
Hey I wanna hit sturgeon from my yak and would like company.
I'm new to yaks but have nailed Dino's for 30 years on power boats and even got some nice ones off sail boats.
My yak needs some mods because it has none but I got some spots that rock.
Really like/need to do a quick anchors release and get a lip grabber thing.
I have not got a fish finder yet but that is a minor thing compared to the quick release.
I'm thinking I know the water on montezuma slough well enough not to need a ff... and could use a buddy's ff if any questions came up that I could not answer.
So I'm thinking (here is where the craziness begins)
I gotta find an easy launch with safe parking. I'd rather hit the west side so an easier launch would be nice maybe by the road near that pump area.
I'm not gonna post my spots but I got 4 or so that work.
I wanna spend the night... Yup!
Thinking that I can have a "base" at the island or some shoreline and work off of it.
Sleeping in my truck or on the shoreline.
BBQ and some shore fishing, but I really want to yak fish Dino's .
I am good with rescue/self rescue but don't want to babysit.
Any of you guys have any interest or ideas to make the better?
Thank you.
Andy

I will have sturgeon fever again in a few months.  :smt007 I don't know anything about launching in that area. The quick release anchor is important as well as a way to reliably measure up to 60 inches. I will definitely be up for a Dino hunt. Check out this QRAS tutorial.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan

I have always wanted to fish for Sturgeon but never have.  I have Fri.-Sun. off.  Booked until Oct.  Let's do it.

I will be around that area in the next couple of months doing some duck hunting and will have my yak and flat bottom pb on the back side of the slew. I would be down to hook up otw and nail a Dino.

I have to much on my plate this weekend so I'm thinking next Saturday I'm gonna spend the night there or at least until the end of the evening bite.
I normally do well just before sunrise so I may wanna hit that bite if I need to.
I've been saving ton of abalone guts, lips and scraps for chum&bait (I've never used AB scraps before but have heard it works well).
I'm really looking forward to doing a successful Dino yak trip... I thinking it's got to be an E ticket ride.
Hope y'all have a good weekend.
Andy

Sturgeon are starting to move up the sac river following the salmon. Went out Wednesday for salmon out near rio vista and marked a bunch at the top of the incoming tide. Even saw a few jump.
