Thinking of trying some fishing on the bay. Never been out there. Looking for striper or whatever will bite my hook. Any advice on good areas to fish and good spots to launch a yak. Preferably where my truck won't be broken into.

Where are you located and are you looking for table fare or just some fun?

I'm from woodland. I'd like to take some food home but either way I'd be satisfied.

My advice: fish the delta or the ocean or even Berryessa. The Bay is tough! And dangerous!

My scariest moment on a kayak came on SF Bay - the tidal current was very strong, much stronger than forecast, and the wind was blowing across it - again, not as forecast. My anchor wouldn't hold, and I could barely move the boat. I finally got to shore, exhausted, and managed to drag the boat in the shallows back to the launch (McNear's, if you're interested). I hate to think what would have happened if I'd spilled - I might very well have not had the strength left to get back in the boat in those conditions.

If you do go, make sure you go in the middle  of the neap tide cycle, for slowest currents, and on a very calm day.
Good luck!
Bill
