Hi everyone. I moved to CA from WI about 7 years ago and started fishing (saltwater) seriously about 2 years ago. I live in Arroyo Grande. During this last off season for boaters I bought a Hobie Kona on craigs list and have been out a few times. On monday I fished Cambria from 8am to about 1:30pm. Here is a picture of my yak rigged up and ready to go:

I tried to stay a ways away from the humpbacks. When they blow they are load it sounds like they are right next to you even if they are a ways away (unless they where rite next to me?). I was also visited by a pod of dolphins 3 of them jumped up rite in front of my kayak and scared the crap out of me. So I thought maybe they are trying to tell me something so I followed them closer to shore for a little while. My plastics where not working so I switched to bait on a double dropper w 4/o hooks as soon as i hit bottom I started getting nibbles the I started bring up sand dabs on my 4/o circle hooks, then I hit something big and pulled up this:

I was not sure what type of shark it was so I released it. It had taken a clean bite out of one of the sand dabs and hooked itself. It was dificult to take a picture of because it was twisting around. I think it may have been a soup fin shark now. I am not really sure what a would have done with it if had kept it, cut its throat and let it bleed out in the kayak i guess?  any ways I hope it made it back to its school. when I drifted out of the sand dabs I move closer to shor back to the kelp patties and caught 6 rock fish. No trophies but good eaters:

I look forward to fishing the Cambria  slam down this year, and meeting some of you. I also post on PFIC as Newb.
Wish'n I was fish'n...
