Out on Lake Del Valle with my wife in our Kayaks last Friday evening with lots of wind and chop.   Party barge loaded with 20 somethings full of testosterone was bearing straight for us. Operator did not see us.  At a couple hundred feet out I let loose a couple of loud whistle blasts which everyone on the barge heard and they changed course immediately ( we were also paddling out of the way).  Skipper gave a thank you wave as he went by...

I used mine on Sunday. A sailboat was coming directly for me and my brother, got real close and I blew the whistle and he turned to avoid me. Yeesh.
Thresher in avatar and Soupfin Shark in signature both caught and pic taken by me.

Yeah, I keep one on a short braided lanyard attached to the outside of my  PFD.  Had to use it on Ruth Lake when a party boat was coming straight at us in the no wake zone.  They actually tried to wave us to get outta their way!  A$$hats almost ran over my girl!  We had to paddle into the weeds to get outta their way.  PBers on Ruth are pretty bad for that.
