Hi everyone.   :smt006 I just moved to Sacramento for work.  I bought an inexpensive fishing kayak to start out and see if I want to upgrade to something like a Hobie later.  I lived in Alaska for a couple years and caught a few kings, silvers and reds.  I'm ready to start hitting the Sacramento and American rivers since I live right by the Sacramento and am hoping to meet some fellow kayak anglers to learn the ropes and to benefit from the buddy system especially while I'm getting familiar with the local waters.  If you're in the Sacramento area and don't mind a newbie tagging along give me a shout.  It's time to get on some salmon!

Thanks for the tip!  Where is the best place to launch?

How is Garcia Bend?  That's really close by for me.

Open river requires some care.... Submerged (mooving!) obstacles. Boats, jetski's can make it scetchy if your in a small (under 14') or tippy kayak... Suggest port (off Jefferson in W sac) or American (Howe access) till you get some time in the saddle. Get a GOOD PFD (life vest) See ya soon...

The port is a god place to go. Free parking and launching. I am close to Garcia Bend also but too much powerboat traffic there. Consumnes River Preserve is a good spot also. Only 15 minutes away.  Free parking and launching.
