Was thinking of leaving late Thurs from SJ after dinner to beat the morning commute (hate towing in traffic).  I only have reservations for Fri/Sat though.  Anyone know of any spots along 101 (Petaluma onwards) to crash in RV till next morning?  Gonna have the family so has to be a safe location.

Worst case I pay KOA Petaluma $40 for a no-hookup site, and sleep in till check-out time, then make my way to Albion.

It'll be a long drive cause you'll almost be there with the followinf choices. On 128 there is Hendy Woods SP, and then farther on just a few miles from Albion is Paul Demmick SP (no reservations I think). and just a couple miles past Albion is Van Damme SP. they have overflow prkng/cmpng in the parking lot right on the beach. All safe but not cheap.

Speaking of camping off of 128...  I remember stopping on my motorcycle years back and pitching a tent at some camp ground in that area.  Can't remember where exactly, but I remember strolling around the woods and finding pot plants.... maybe I should find that place again... LOL. :smt005

Ryan,
I have reservation Thur-Sun, but very likely my family will arrive on Friday - we are waiting for confirmation from my wife boss. if it's true than you could park on my spot (I'll sleep in van anyway)

Regards,
Igor

Call Albion and tell them your site number and come in early.
I called yesterday and I had reservations for Friday and sat and told them that I wanted to come in on Wed and they said no problem.
It will be better for you to unload just once and not have to deal with packing and unpacking, just leave as early as you can on Thursday and fish early on Friday.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Fairgrounds in Cloverdale.
It's also only a 4 minute walk to Ruth McGowans brewery.

There is also the fairgrounds in Boonville, only 38 minutes from Albion. It sounds like you can show up early without a problem, that seems like the best option.

thanks for all the suggestions; lots to choose from now.  when i made my reservation, i asked if anyone reserved thurs night, and she said someone booked the site already.

i know i'll be really tired driving, and realistically (based on our track record of getting 3 kids ready to go) we'll probably get in petaluma area around 11 (gotta work on thurs).  not sure i wanna push it all the way to albion.  thanks for the offer though igor.

Make a one night reservation for Thursday night at Albion, even if it is in the overflow area.

There's s KOA in Petaluma , and Santa Rosa fairgrounds has a RV park. But I've honestly seen a lot of RV parked at the walmart in Rohnert Park on the side next to Driven( indoor karting)for a quick over nighter. CHP station down the street and RP cops are really strict .

Walmarts are known throughout the RV community for overnight parking in self contained RV's.  So, if there is one in Rohnert Park, you should shoot for that.  Look for other RV's in the lot and, keeping a respectful distance, rest up there.

Oh, and I always buy something from Walmart while I'm there after all.
