I had this idea to take a Old fishing technique  and mix it with something new,  And this is what I  came up with.
Got 2 - 3 lb torpedo weights inside a copper pipe. It makes a loud clank,  A Stinger hook, and topped off with a small  LED for illumination, I hope It is the ticket to big Lings.        What do you think?
SO.... Fort Ross on Sat is the plan. It's always been good to us.
Always nice to meet another NCKA member.
AND HOPEFULLY   I'll be a fish fry!

I made some "custom" Ling bars using stainless steel tubing and put ball bearings inside the tube.  Using circle hook at one end of this tubing for less snagging.  Will try these at Albion.

That should work. I think you meant 3 ounce weights not 3 pound weights. We used to fill copper pipe with lead back in the 70s, scrubbed it with screen material to keep it shining. We would also tip the hooks with water balloons, empty of course.

Should be a great weekend on the coast. Let us know how they work.

Nice pipe jig man. One thing you may try is hammering it flat as you can with the weights in it. That should make it swim a bit. Also try adding a puked up octopus or a squid to the assist hook. Good luck and post up the fish!

I've just used a torpedo weight and a hook.
Same results, just a lot easier.

Well, I got to try out my home made ling bar... Had it in the water for about 10-12 min. with no hits and guess what... Snagged and gone, paddled all around trying to dislodge it, but donated it to Big Blue :(
It was slow out there,Fort Ross,  but we did manage to get some nice fish, no limits though. Got some of those BIG BLUE's you see occasionally, ,4  1/2lbs.
Nice day OTW.

Bad luck loosing it. my younger brother swears by something similar. He used chrome tubing that would clang against the rocks. better make a couple so you may have a chance to try it out.
