ID this little guy?

Last two trips to Van Damme I have seen many of these, especially yesterday. They were thick on the meter. So thick in fact that I was snagging them while fishing for the rockies. Fish were spitting them up too.
Do salmon eat/target these?

Some sort of baby rockfish maybe?

Olive fry. Baby Yellow/Olive Rockfish. The black on the fin confirms it.

Could be a juvenile yellowtail, canary, or olive rockfish.

Yes. That little guy is salmon food.

This is still the time of year to find salmon near the rockfish.  That's why guy at the Cove and Fort Bragg are catching them close and in sallower water.
