Picked one up today, this thing is pretty slick.
WIFI , waterproof, shockproof, 28mm 5x wide angle.

Just another option for folks who love to take pics and have to leave their phones in the hatch or car. I've lost too many to the river and ocean. And I am not a huge GoPro fan for stills. Also this thing can transfer to your phone the pics you wanna post. Pretty neat.

That's a good deal. I have the old XP50. It's a pretty good camera.

The comparable canon is over $100 more. Great deal. Hope to see some cool video. I felt the same with go pro. Don't have one but heard they don't cut it for zoom and and still pics.

And the settings on the GoPro are difficult to adjust.
I have the original GoPro and have made some cool video on it but it got stuck in the still shot mode. I don't know how to change back to video mode, and if you don't have it close there is no zoom.

This thing is pretty cool so far. I'm still tinkering with it. Will be a perfect kayak camera.

GoPros aren't the best point and shoot cameras. Great for videos.

I've had at least 8 or 10 of those Fuji's!  They were $139.99 when I started buying them a few years ago.  The model has upgraded a few times but stayed largely the same.  I get some great pics, but lots of crappy ones too - take lots!  The video quality has improved greatly - I think you'll like the HD video and the audio (unless underwater or wet from having just been underwater) is great too.

Here's my biggest disappointment with the Fuji's:  every single one has leaked when I've used it under water!  I have sent in half a dozen for replacement under warranty and have lost several others to that after they're out of warranty.  I feel that these cameras, unless under the 90 days no questions asked warranty at Costco, should ONLY be used as 'wet deck' cameras - splashing is fine, wet hands, rain... but watch out for any immersion!  The real pain in those times when the cameras leaked was that I had some great stuff to film under water, so I missed out because of a camera failing me for what it had promised, AND, even when I got a new camera through the mail within the one year warranty, I'd lose out on the battery and card that were now saltwater contaminated too...

Anyway, I do recommend the cameras for 'wet deck' use.  Best of luck with it.   :smt001

Wow. Thanks Eric for that advice! I will definitely use it as a wet deck cam. I don't take much if any underwater shots anyways, just needed something for my fishing trips instead of my phone.
Appreciate the heads up.

Yesterday was the deadline for buying the camera, so I went ahead and bought one too.  It's was suppose to be for my trip to Tihiti to be use under water.  Now that you Eric mentioned it, I think I will try the water test before the 90 days is up.  When I was in Galopogos Island a couple of months back, the tour guy was using his underwater.  Think I will return within the 90 days period if it does not work like it should.

i picked one up last month because i didn't want to risk losing/damaging my phone otw.  i've used it underwater in swimming pools and also at clear lake.  so far no leakage (fingers crossed).  the instructions did say to be sure no debris is present on the seal when you lock down the battery door so it doesn't leak water.

i like the wifi feature and works great on my galaxy s3.  what i don't like is the ergo of the camera when holding it; feels like it will slip out of my hands.  also, if you use two hands, and are not careful where you place your fingers w.r.t. the lens, your fingers will be in the pics... lol.

In the past I bought 2 different older models at Costco.  Both produced really poor picture quality.
I returned both, good thing Costco has a great return policy.  I've stayed with Pentax and upgraded to 3 times to the latest release.  I am very happy on every single one.  Pentax cameras are now Ricoh.
