Just boxed the bike to ship to Iowa for RAGBRAI.
Almost cried, I miss my lil' mule already.
Miles are in, elevation is in, now RAGBRAI then the Tam Double (if wifey will let me), then I'm free.

I love to fish

Problem is, i also love to ride my bike fit. I love thinking that four or five hours is the middle. i love thinking, "in a couple of hours I'll stop for a coffee..." I love turning uphill at every fork.

I've never been good at splitting my time between sports

after boxing the bike i pulled the AI out of the garage, checked it over for things i hadn't fixed or had wanted to mod, since last winter. There's a few left.

Three weeks, then i'm getting back on the yak!

My goal? To fish with some of you all, and my daughter.

Ah! The choice between biking and fishing. The logic of this hit me last year after a comparison between a rather rigorous mtb venture and a successful salmon day on the yak. Arriving home after a day on single track has on occasion, left me sweaty, exhausted, bruised, branch speared and contacted by PO, nettles, and ankle ripping berry vines. Yak fishing on the other hand usually leaves me with a pleasant glow from water therapy and a nice fish meal. However,  rationality  is not a match for the euphoria of whipping through the woods on two wheels or pedaling to places with stunning views that are best absorbed at bike speeds. Permanent dilemma I'm afraid.

Mt Tam double comes right by my place on Joy Rd. so if you need a beer to get you home stop by the CHARLES BECK STUDIO GALLERY and see if I'm around.

Cheers
Charles

I wonder if so many of us bike and yak because both are solo self powered ventures?

RAGBRAI seems really fun. I can't believe its only $150 for a weeklong/state wide event.
USA Tri charges $90 to race at nationals, and that takes less than 1.5 hours!

BTW, what are you riding now adays?
