Albion is not part of the professional fishing circuit. The competition part seems to be overshadowing the purpose of the event in the first place: to support someone in need.

I support whatever decision Craig makes.  In my humble opinion, one of the things you get to do for all the hard work you put into an event like this is; determine the rules.  Not being one of the competitive fisherman may cloud my judgment and understanding of the issue.  I pay the registration fee to support the event.  Nothing more, nothing less.  I have no expectation of ever receiving any prize money.  I respect those of you who " put in the work" and win these things but there are many of us who attend for an entirely different reason.  This is a "family" event and spending time fishing and chilling with NCKA family what I look forward to.  Keep up the great work Craig!  Your tournament is legendary and one of the best I have had the privilege of attending.

Maybe we should all get a participation trophy.... Like I said before I think it should pay the top three as those are the ones who earned it.

Is the first part sarcasm?
Of coarse it's sarcasm thus the .....  I'm good with whatever the decision it's your tourney do what you want. We will have a good time in any format!!

I don't think the primary purpose of our tournaments is competition or to support a cause. People go because it's fun. You get to fish new places with old and new friends, learn new fishing techniques, and cook, eat and party too much. It's cool that it helps someone, but if it wasn't fun there would be little to donate. Too many rules and too many prizes seems to overshadow the fun a little.
So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains, where the spirits go...........

Both Hojo and ED are correct, the NCKA tournaments are all about fun and helping someone not professional competition, sometimes peoples EGO just goes beyond their head, How dare people call placing 8th better yet 10th is not an accomplishment. You think people don't try hard enough? Too naive to think it that way, just because you got lucky doesn't mean you are better than anyone. Learn humility from Jim (Salty) he won several tourneys some back to back and AOTY included. Yet, he rather choose to recognize others hard work by suggesting placement. Some are just too conceded.

Craig, this is your event do as you see fit and we are behind you 100%.

If - If I remember correctly Craig stepped up when someone was needed to save this sophomore event called Albion. Such a unique and beautiful place that you want to share it with good people. The helping others was added as a natural extension of who Craig and others are. The tournament has become a living thing and like all living things it will change as it ages. I trust Craig's parenting as his child (Albion) grows.

Thanks Daddy!  :smt006

In the game of biggest fish, if you can't enjoy routinely gettin' your ass handed to you, by great fishermen, then you don't belong in the NCKA.
